We were delighted when this video arrived from the West Country Hawks Wheelchair Rugby Club showing the wheelchair purchased with a grant from The Clare Milne Trust. A quality piece of sports equipment, matched by their passion and effort; everyone is clearly enjoying every moment!
This vibrant club was founded in Plymouth and Exeter in 2011 to provide this valuable on-going resource for the local disabled community, enabling access to the sport of Wheelchair Rugby.
The physical and mental health benefits of participating in a team sport are enormous to all members with the club giving access to competition at the highest levels and social leagues. Weekly training is in Plymouth (Monday evening) and is open to all who want to try the sport of Wheelchair Rugby; it looks like enormous fun!
The Clare Milne Trust supports charities and organisations in their work with people living with disabilities throughout Devon and Cornwall. The West Country Hawks highlights the variety of ways people can get involved, everyone is guaranteed a warm welcome, from wheelchair rugby players to all-important non-playing volunteers, the club is inclusive for all.
Come on The Hawks! We wish you continued success!
