We’re delighted to announce that The Clare Milne Trust is now recruiting two new trustees to join our small, passionate team.
As a volunteer-led, grant-giving charity, we support people of all ages living with disabilities across Devon and Cornwall. Our work is driven by the legacy of Clare Milne, a deeply compassionate woman whose belief in inclusion and support continues to inspire everything we do.
The Trust benefits from a significant endowment gifted in Clare’s memory by her grandfather, A.A. Milne – the beloved author and creator of Winnie the Pooh. Thanks to this legacy, we awarded over £800,000 in grants in 2024 alone to local charities and not-for-profit organisations making a real difference.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for individuals with time, commitment and heart to help steer our mission forward. No previous experience as a trustee is required. However, we especially welcome applicants with professional or business experience, who bring an analytical approach, are comfortable assessing grant applications, and able to make sound judgements and tough decisions when needed.
Trustees should also be willing and able to visit charities and organisations across Devon and Cornwall as part of our due diligence process, helping us better understand the needs on the ground and ensure our funding has the greatest possible impact.
You’ll be joining a friendly, collaborative team and playing a vital role in shaping the Trust’s work and delivering real, lasting benefit to disabled people in our region.

Further Information
If you’re ready to make a meaningful contribution to your community and help carry forward this important legacy, we’d love to hear from you.
