For 30 years Calvert Exmoor has been a leading and important accessible activity centre and charity in North Devon. The Clare Milne Trust are pleased to support their urgent fundraising appeal.
Calvert Exmoor provides vital holidays and unrivalled experiences for people with physical, learning, behavioural, sensory or multiple complex disabilities.
Clare Milne visited whenever she could, she loved an adventure and visiting Calvert Exmoor was a wonderful experience for her.
The Clare Milne Trust trustees were therefore saddened to see that Calvert Exmoor are fighting for survival, facing a critical financial crisis and need to raise £500,000 via their crowdfunder appeal by 31st August 2024.
It has been encouraging to see the strong support for this fabulous organisation, with so many people and organisations pulling together to ensure that this amazing facility has a sustainable future.
With time being of the essence, the trustees of The Clare Milne Trust organised an early visit to Exmoor, to hear about the charity’s challenges and their future plans. Visiting at the height of the season, the trustees were able to see the tremendous happiness of the many visitors. The huge smiles and shrieks of excitement were inspirational. They saw guests descending the outdoor abseiling wall in their wheelchairs, taking part in archery and of course visiting the stables and indoor riding school, a must for any visit to Calvert Exmoor.
Equally inspiring were the various members of staff. They were so friendly and engaging, working so closely with the guests, showing real passion and commitment and most importantly prioritising the guests despite the significant and real challenges in the background.
The Clare Milne Trust are pleased to support Exmoor Calvert Trust in their hour of need and wish them well for the future. Their work is so important, benefiting so many people facing the most severe challenges to make lifelong memories.
